Frequently Asked Questions

Why is my profile on this website and where did you get my information?

The provider pages on our site are auto-generated using information from various public data sources, including from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid (CMS), as well as licensed third-party data sources. Our goal is to create a comprehensive and helpful resource for patients. We are committed to ensuring this data is accurate and believe that providers should have direct control over their professional story. For more details, please see our About Our Data page.

How are the Experience and Quality scores calculated?

We understand this is a primary concern. The scores are algorithmically calculated, and we recognize that an algorithmic score can never fully capture the experience and ability of healthcare providers. Many highly qualified physicians and clinicians may not see their expertise fully reflected in these scores, as they are based only on the data that is currently available.

As we state directly on each provider profile page:

"Experience grades are based on available data, which can vary by provider. Newer providers or those treating patient populations with limited data coverage (such as primarily private-pay or certain insurance types) may show lower grades despite potentially excellent care, simply due to less available information."

To give providers more control, our upcoming platform will allow you to optionally hide or choose which quality scores are displayed on your profile. For a detailed breakdown of our current process, please review our Experience & Quality Methodology page.

Where does the pricing data come from?

At this time, the prices displayed on provider profiles are based on publicly available chargemaster prices. We use a combination of commercial and public data sources and display as much information as is available. We recognize the limitations of chargemaster data, and we make an effort to clearly outline those limitations for patients directly on each provider profile.

Our goal is to make this information as accurate and useful as possible for patients while maintaining transparency about the limits of current datasets. We are actively working to expand our data and plan to integrate in-network insurance rates from public and commercial sources in the future. You can find more details in our Pricing Methodology page.

How can I update my information?

We believe providers should have full control over their professional information. We are building a free platform that will allow you to update your profile details, manage how your quality data is displayed, and more.

Is the profile management service really free? How do you make money?

Yes, claiming and managing your individual provider profile is, and always will be, completely free. We believe providers should not have to pay to control their own professional information. To support our platform, our company generates revenue through on-site advertising and affiliate marketing partnerships.
